Lantern Theater Company: The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui by Bphoto_arturoui_fullertolt Brecht

Philadelphia Premiere!

Join us for a special "wine-and-cheese" reception where Director Charles McMahon will give us an insider's view of the premiere, followed by the performance.

This acclaimed play tells the story of a shady Chicago businessman who turns to politics to take over nearby Cicero, Illinois using gangster instincts to grab and hold power. He rapidly learns how to sway a crowd using fear and false promises.

Written in early World War II as a parable of the rise of Fascism in Europe, Brecht brought forth this brilliant drama full of important insights for our time.

Sponsored by the University of Chicago Alumni Club of Philadelphia, Rebecca Li-Huang, MBA'98, Stacy Dutton, BA'83, and Lantern Theater Company.

Reception: 5:30pm - 6:45pm
